Our Story

Mostly Accurate Tours started in the summer of 2026 when founder Thatch and co-founder Cam launched their first historical food tours in Boston and Providence. But the story actually begins much earlier.

Long before Mostly Accurate Tours existed, Thatch and Cam shared two things in common: a love of history and a knack for showing people around. During his college days in Chattanooga, Thatch led tours through the underground caverns of Ruby Falls, while Cam worked as a walking tour guide in Madrid during his time studying abroad in Spain.

The two met in 2017 while working at a brewery in Boston. After a few late nights spent drinking shift beers and playing Settlers of Catan, they quickly became friends and often teamed up to lead brewery tours together. Eventually, the two went their separate ways as Thatch pursued a career in real estate and Cam relocated to Providence.

In 2025, while walking the Freedom Trail and showing his family around Boston, Thatch's aunt told him, "You should do this for a living." After some thought, Thatch started to put the idea in motion. He decided to combine his love of history and storytelling with some of his favorite bars and restaurants to create a memorable and engaging experience for visitors.

After all, one of the best ways to experience a city’s culture and history is through its food.

While working on the first draft of the Boston tours, Thatch reached out to Cam, who was then working for an educational travel company, and invited him to come aboard. Cam immediately saw the potential in his favorite Providence neighborhood, Fox Point, and jumped at the opportunity to help bring the idea to life. Before long, he had left the corporate world behind and begun developing Mostly Accurate's Providence tours.

From the beginning, Thatch and Cam wanted the company to be built around three core principles: showcasing exceptional food at an affordable price, supporting the local restaurants and vendors they loved, and sharing the inspiring history of Boston, Providence, and the United States with visitors and locals alike. The name itself, Mostly Accurate, is an homage to the long tradition of oral storytelling, where the line between truth and fiction, history and legend, is often blurred in service of a great story.

So please, join us. Experience our cities. Try our favorite foods. Hear some great stories. And remember: some of them might even be true.

The man in plaid is handing a skewer with meat to the man in glasses, who is about to eat it. The background shows a few other people, some furniture, and wall decorations in a home setting.
